At a time many public office holders choose caution or silence over conviction, a young Nigerian lawmaker has continued to distinguish himself as a bold and courageous voice in the nation’s public discourse.
Hon. Clement Jimbo, who represents the Abak/Etim Ekpo/Ika Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, brings clarity, courage, and conviction to national conversations through his consistent engagement on critical issues in the media space. Whether on Radio, Television, or social media platforms, he actively interrogates matters of public concern with uncommon confidence and intellectual depth.
Anyone who follows his regular appearances on broadcast programmes or his interactions on social media will quickly notice his intelligence, composure, and firm grasp of issues.
He speaks thoughtfully, offering insights that enrich discussions rather than merely occupying airtime.
Herein lies the real secret of his frequent media presence: Radio and Television anchors, panelists, and journalists rarely engage guests who fail to add value, depth, truth, or excitement to their programmes.
Compelling conversations are driven by engaging guests; boring ones are seldom invited back. In this regard, Hon. Jimbo has become a delight for the media.
Recently, he appeared on Kaakaki, a flagship programme of African Independent Television (AIT), where he shared his perspective on Nigeria’s security challenges.
During the interview, he stated unequivocally: “We cannot live in denial that there are no religious killings in Nigeria, whether Christians or Muslims.”
Following the broadcast, many Nigerians took to the comment section of his Facebook page to commend his frankness and patriotic stance on the country’s security situation.
One of them, Mr. Archimedes Etuk praised the lawmaker for speaking as a genuinely concerned Nigerian.
“I listened to you on the AIT programme, and you spoke exceptionally well on the issues of insecurity and agriculture. I commend you for voicing the concerns of ordinary Nigerians,” Etuk wrote.
Similarly, Mr. Goodlife Oyibo applauded Hon. Jimbo for his honesty, describing it as refreshing and heartwarming to see a sitting political office holder act with conscience beyond political gimmicks.
On President Bola Tinubu’s directive to the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Egbetokun, to withdraw police personnel from politicians and private individuals, Hon. Jimbo again offered a measured and thoughtful perspective.
He had suggested to the Federal Government to consider expanding recruitment into the Nigeria Police Force (NPF) to ensure adequate personnel for both public safety and VIP protection.
A few days later, President Tinubu declared a nationwide security emergency and ordered additional recruitment into the Armed Forces.
According to a statement issued by the State House, Abuja, the police were authorised to recruit an additional 20,000 officers, bringing the total number to 50,000.
Hon. Jimbo has remained consistent in weighing in on sensitive national issues. On October 6, 2025, he appeared on Channels Television to discuss solid minerals development, with particular emphasis on Nigeria’s lithium potential. He proposed that Nigeria should consider adopting a “trade-by-barter” approach—exchanging raw lithium for technology, such as battery manufacturing capacity—rather than merely exporting the raw material.
According to him, this strategy would build local capacity, create jobs, add value, and encourage technology transfer, while leveraging Nigeria’s large consumer market. The idea, which aligns with government’s policy to move away from raw material exports and prevent the dumping of finished goods, was later noted in a report by The Guardian newspaper.
Observers have noted that Hon. Jimbo’s advocacy is driven less by personal ambition and more by a sincere desire to see Nigeria realise its vast potential.
On the Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan case, he was equally forthright, calling for judicial reforms to address ambiguous court judgements. Speaking on Channels Television on July 25, 2025, he remarked: “Though the judiciary is independent, court rulings must be written in clear and direct language to avoid misrepresentation.”
Hon. Jimbo has also spoken in support of the Renewed Hope Agenda and the bold reforms of President Bola Tinubu, stressing that they are essential steps toward repositioning Nigeria for sustainable growth and development.
Beyond traditional media, his active presence on social media has further strengthened his connection with the public, fostering dialogue, encouraging feedback, and promoting civic awareness. By remaining visible, vocal, and accessible, Hon. Jimbo continues to shape public discourse and inspire greater citizen participation in Nigeria’s democratic process.
