Flight operations of Air Peace have been disrupted nationwide following a protest by members of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), who reportedly shut the airline’s terminals at airports across the country.

The disruption was particularly noticeable at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport in Lagos, where an Air Peace flight scheduled to depart at 6:30 a.m. was unable to take off.

Passengers were left stranded as the protest affected the airline’s scheduled operations, with similar disruptions reported at other airports nationwide.

The Director of Public Affairs and Consumer Protection at the Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA), Michael Achimugu, confirmed the incident when contacted by Ben Television.

“Yes, it is a union thing. When I get to the airport, I will be able to get more factual details of the situation,” Achimugu said.

The protest is believed to be linked to a labour dispute involving Air Peace workers, although the specific issues behind the action were not immediately clear.

One passenger, identified on X as YoufoundAlex, said the disruption left him stranded at the Lagos airport.

“I have a 9:00 a.m. appointment in Abuja today, but unfortunately, I am currently stranded at the Lagos airport due to an ongoing protest by Air Peace workers, which has resulted in the shutdown of the airport and disruption of flights,” he wrote.

The development has triggered delays and inconvenience for passengers who had booked Air Peace flights.

As of the time of filing this report, the management of Air Peace had yet to issue an official statement on the disruption.

Ben Television could also not immediately confirm whether the protest had affected the operations of other airlines operating from the affected airports.
