Make Festus Keyamo Petroleum Minister if You Want to End Corruption, Inefficiency, and Mismanagement in NNPC
In a bold appeal to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, online media mogul Mogaji Wole Arisekola has suggested a strategic shift in the nation’s cabinet: moving Barrister Festus Keyamo from his current role as Aviation Minister to lead the Petroleum Ministry. According to Arisekola, this move could be the turning point Nigeria needs to tackle the corruption, inefficiency, and mismanagement that has plagued the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) for years. Arisekola believes Keyamo’s appointment would end the hardships endured by millions of Nigerians due to the inefficiencies in the petroleum sector.
“Keyamo is not just a politician,” Arisekola stated. “He’s a man known for his principles, his dedication, and his unwavering stance against corruption. He has a proven track record as a disciplined lawyer, fearless in prosecuting high-profile cases against criminals and corrupt public officials. Such a background is exactly what we need to bring transparency and integrity to the petroleum sector.”
For decades, Nigeria’s petroleum industry has been riddled with scandals and financial mismanagement. Billions have reportedly been lost to fraudulent schemes and shady deals. Arisekola highlighted that the problem isn’t simply about policy; it’s the lack of dedicated, patriotic officers willing to prioritize Nigeria’s long-term growth over personal gain. In his view, Keyamo embodies the values required to lead this transformation. “He’s the kind of person who would place Nigeria above his own interests and those of powerful industry players,” Arisekola noted. “His integrity and commitment are beyond question.”
Arisekola believes that, under Keyamo’s watch, the petroleum ministry would finally be led by someone who is not afraid to tackle systemic corruption head-on. He cited the minister’s background in law and his previous cases against public officials as evidence of his fearless approach to public service. “There is no doubt that if Keyamo takes over the Petroleum Ministry, he will dismantle the web of lies and cover-ups that has allowed corruption to flourish in the NNPC for so long,” he asserted.
The media chief also touched on the suffering of everyday Nigerians who bear the brunt of the current issues within the petroleum sector. Rising fuel prices, supply shortages, and constant fluctuations have made life harder for millions, especially those in low-income communities. “This suffering can end,” Arisekola urged. “It just requires someone with the guts and the moral compass to clean up the Petroleum Ministry. Keyamo is that person.”
Arisekola emphasized that appointing Keyamo as Petroleum Minister would send a powerful message, not only to the Nigerian public but also to the international community, that the Tinubu administration is committed to fighting corruption at the highest levels. “Imagine the impact,” he said. “Investors would see that Nigeria is serious about transparency and efficiency. This could attract foreign investments, create jobs, and ultimately boost our economy.”
The NNPC has often been criticized for being opaque and failing to serve the interests of the Nigerian people. Past administrations have promised reform, yet the issues persist. Arisekola believes that these promises have gone unfulfilled due to the lack of a leader with the tenacity to follow through. “Keyamo is different,” he argued. “He has shown time and again that he has the courage to make difficult decisions.”
Highlighting Keyamo’s experience in handling complex legal cases, Arisekola suggested that this skill set is precisely what the Petroleum Ministry needs to untangle the intricate web of corruption and inefficiency. “He knows the law inside out, and he knows how to enforce it,” Arisekola said. “We need someone like him who understands both the legal and ethical implications of every decision.”
In a closing appeal, Arisekola urged President Tinubu to consider the broader implications of appointing a man of integrity to this vital role. “This is about more than just one ministry; it’s about restoring trust in our government. It’s about showing Nigerians that there are leaders who truly care about the future of this country,” he said.
If appointed, Keyamo could potentially usher in a new era of accountability and transparency for the NNPC, reshaping Nigeria’s petroleum industry to serve its people. This move, as Arisekola believes, would not only be a significant step toward ending the hardships endured by Nigerians but could mark the beginning of a more honest and efficient government.
