The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has extended the deadline for candidates with outstanding admission offers from 2021 to date to accept or reject them.

The new deadline is Wednesday, September 30, 2026, replacing the earlier deadline of Monday, August 31, 2026.

JAMB said the extension was granted as a final opportunity for affected candidates to indicate whether they wish to accept or reject their outstanding offers.

In a statement, the Board urged all candidates with pending admissions, including regular and CUIIA admissions, to log into their JAMB profiles and take the required action before the new deadline.

The Board, however, warned that there will be no further extension after September 30.

“Failure to take action within the stipulated period would have consequences for the status of such outstanding admissions,” JAMB warned.

Candidates who accept their offers will be able to proceed to print and obtain their admission letters.

Those who reject their offers will have their dashboards reverted to “Not Admitted”, allowing JAMB to update its records and ensure that the national admission database accurately reflects their current status.

Candidates can accept old offers despite current enrolment

JAMB also clarified that candidates who are no longer attending the institution where they were previously offered admission, or who are currently enrolled in a different programme, may still accept their outstanding admission offers.

Such candidates can subsequently apply for the appropriate correction or deletion of the admission, where necessary, to enable JAMB to update their records.

The Board similarly advised candidates currently pursuing a second degree but who still have an unaccepted previous admission offer that they may reject the outstanding offer and continue with their current programme.

2026 admission candidates not affected

JAMB also moved to reassure candidates who have secured admission in the 2026 admission exercise but still have an earlier admission offer pending.

According to the Board, such candidates can safely reject the previous admission without affecting their 2026 admission.

However, JAMB stressed that candidates must take action before the September 30 deadline.

It warned that once the deadline expires, all outstanding admission offers from 2021 to date that have neither been accepted nor rejected will automatically revert to “Not Admitted” status and remain so in the Board’s records.

JAMB therefore urged all affected candidates to log into their profiles and act immediately rather than wait until the final day.

The Board reiterated that failure to accept an admission offer within the stipulated period would render the offer invalid.
