*Beware Of Fraudulent New Nigerian Diaspora Movement – APC CDC
November 6, 2023
The attention of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Committee of Diaspora Chairmen, under the leadership of Prof. Adesegun Labinjo, has been drawn to a reprehensible press release signed by a nefarious group calling itself the New Nigerian Diaspora Movement, spearheaded by the disgraced Jackson Ude.
A ragtag busybody that calls itself the Coalition of New Nigeria Diaspora Movement has found a perfect way to defraud unsuspecting Nigerians and foreign entities. Their target is to raise $10 million from the public, purportedly meant to fight the incumbency of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
If this is not silly, it could be funny and mischievous. Tinubu is the elected President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria who has passed through many obstacles, challenges, threats and even sabotage to get to where he is today.
The Supreme Court has affirmed his election, which enjoyed over 8 million votes from the Nigerian electorates who believe in his capacity to govern the country. Anyone naïve enough to yield their hard-earned money to this unpatriotic bunch will be doing so at their own financial risk and will also be guilty of contributing to the efforts of sore losers and unpatriotic elements who are bent on tarnishing the image of our great country, Nigeria.
In an election where the coming together of the two main opposition parties could have produced a different outcome, this group of antidemocratic rabble-rousers refused to come to terms with the defeat of their principal.
Specifically, these political mercenaries have embarked on an inconsequential expedition, flogging a dead horse. But if the financial reward is worth it, they must show their dumb but fanatical paymaster that they are at least doing his bidding. That’s exactly what’s happening here.
It is laughable when Jackson Ude, a known purveyor of fake news and blackmail, is the one at the forefront of this ethnic-laden body. What is patriotic about a bunch of people who are trashing their country’s democratic process just because their clueless leader lost an election? Where is the patriotism in those who have taken their campaign of calumny to the Justices of the Appeal and Supreme Courts?
Accepting the outcome of an election, especially the one that the courts have adjudicated, is a significant requirement for any prosperous and progressive democracy.
It is, however, shameful that this group possesses no such credentials; instead, they are about to make a big fool of themselves globally.
Why does anyone wonder why the US, Western Europe and every other country want to do business with Nigeria under President Tinubu? The answer is quite simple. They see and know what the opposition in Nigeria does not know or does not want to acknowledge.
Tinubu won the Presidential elections hands down. He is not guilty of all the allegations peddled against him. The Judicial system has come through for Nigerians at such a crucial moment in our political history. These countries know all of these and more. So, Ude and his group should continue with their planned political misadventure that will expose their stupidity to the entire world.
The behaviour of this unpatriotic group serves as a reminder of how critically important it is to domesticate our democracy. It is also a sad reminder of how they still subscribe and acquiesce to that proverbial slave mentality.
They want the American Congress to intervene in Nigeria’s internal democracy. If the idea was not shameful enough, they’ve conveniently overlooked how difficult it has been for the US to choose a Speaker in their House of Representatives.
A country where someone like Trump still has a chance of winning an election? And this is your role model of a functioning democracy? These people couldn’t be serious. They should know that every society must determine the best way to manage diversity and democracy.
We in the Committee of Diaspora Chairmen appeal to the Nigerian government to start keeping a tab on her citizens who are bent on tarnishing the image of our dear country. As Nigerians in the Diaspora, we are ready to defend the sovereignty of Nigeria with all that we’ve got. There should be no room or space for anarchists and insurrectionists to peddle their destructive trade.
Finally, the world has changed. Ude and his fictitious coalition of 30 diaspora organisations will do well to subject themselves to the democratic process by seeing the election of President Tinubu as a true testimony to the will of the people and that of God.
Signed on behalf of APC CDC:
Engr. Bola Babarinde
General Secretary.
Hon. Omololu Nick Apata
Publicity Secretary.
