
The National Examinations Council (NECO) has released the 2025 Senior School Certificate Examination (SSCE) external results, with 71.63% of candidates obtaining five credits and above, including English Language and Mathematics.
According to Prof. Dantani Wushishi, NECO Registrar, 9,016 candidates were booked for various forms of malpractice, representing a 31.7% increase from 6,160 cases recorded in 2024. Five supervisors were recommended for blacklisting for aiding and abetting malpractice.
A total of 96,979 candidates registered for the examination, with 95,160 sitting for it. The results showed 78.32% of candidates scoring credit and above in English Language and 91.35% in Mathematics.
The NECO boss said five supervisors, two from the FCT, one each from Kano, Adamawa and Ondo states were recommended for blacklisting for aiding and abetting examination malpractice.
73,167, representing 78.82 percent candidates got credit and above in English Language, while 85,256 candidates, representing 91.35 percent got credit and above in Mathematics.
Also, 82,082 candidates, representing 86.26 percent got five credits and above, irrespective of English Language and Mathematics.
The examination was conducted for candidates seeking to acquire the required qualifications for admissions into various higher institutions and the release of the results comes fifty-two days after the last written paper.
The examination, which covered 16 subjects, was conducted between November 26 and December 13, 2025, with results released 52 days after the final paper.
