. . . As Station Holds 3rd Annual Management Retreat
Lagos Traffic Radio has been charged to remain focused on promoting the T.H.E.M.E.S Agenda, especially the Traffic Management and Transportation Pillar, which is pivotal to ensuring easy commuting and free traffic flow across the State.
Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Mr. Gbenga Omotoso, spoke at the opening of the Y2022 management retreat of the broadcast outfit, commending the station for disseminating prompt, periodic traffic information and traffic advisory to Lagos residents.
Emphasising the need for Lagos Traffic Radio to leverage technology to sustain its leading role in the broadcast industry, the Commissioner said the theme of the retreat, “LTR Vision 2032 -Roadmap Towards A Sustainable Traffic Reportage in Lagos”, affirmed that the management team is conscious of the need to map out long-term strategies for continued innovation and excellence in traffic reportage.
“If we are improving in Waterways and the Rail is coming on, I think it is only fair that your Station will improve and step up its game so that the people will see that Traffic Radio is moving together with the State Government”, Omotoso said.
Delivering his goodwill message, the Honourable Chairman, Lagos State House of Assembly Committee on Information, Security and Governance, Engr. Setonji David, commended the organisation for doing well, noting that training and retraining the workforce and leveraging technology will enhance the Station’s overall performance.
He said: “In today’s world, staff organisational life in the workplace is becoming more unpredictable and this is as a result of both advancement in technology and the current mode of doing business. Thus, to catch up with this trend, organisations are now under obligation to improve staff performance through training and retraining programmes”.
Also speaking at the event, the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Information and Strategy, Mr. Olusina Thorpe, acknowledged Lagos Traffic Radio’s remarkable contribution to the impact of the Traffic Management and Transportation pillar of the T.H.E.M.E.S Agenda by providing timely travel advisory to Lagos Residents.
Applauding the station for maintaining excellence in its activities, Thorpe also appreciated the Management and Staff of Lagos Traffic Radio for honouring him as he prepares to “pen down” from the Civil Service on the 15th of July, 2022, after meritorious service to the State.
His words: “I want to appreciate and I want to thank all of you. Please, Lagos State is the Centre of Excellence, you must reflect that excellent service. So, for us, that means that we can reach for the sky, so do not relent, let us do more”.
Earlier in his welcome address, the General Manager of Lagos Traffic Radio, Mr. Tayo Akanle, stated that the retreat was convened to develop a Robust Master Plan for a clearer direction in the next ten years.
Akanle exuded confidence that the radio station would, ultimately, rank along its peers globally, saying that the annual retreat was initiated to give direction to the vision of the foremost traffic radio in Nigeria.
“We have been consistent in having this platform because of the fact that it has been one of the successes of uplifting the Station to where it is today”, he noted.
“I must surely say that most of the outcomes of our previous retreats, which we have implemented, have also contributed to the movement of the Station from one level to another”, the General Manager added.
Facilitators at the event touched on topics including, ‘Internalising The Essential Element of A Development Plan’, ‘Leveraging Technology And Innovation For Organisational Efficiency’, ‘Creating a Sustainable and Impactful Social Media Plan For LTR’ as well as ‘Developing A Sustainable and Strategic Workplan For Lagos Traffic Radio’.
