Alhaji Yahaya Bello, a former two-term governor of Kogi and ex-presidential candidate of the APC, was seeking the party’s senate ticket for the 2027 elections.
In a viral video of the primary posted showed Governor Ododo standing in line and holding his voting slip in support of Yahaya Bello, who is widely regarded as his political godfather in the state.
In the clip, the governor was dressed in white native attire and wine-coloured eyeglasses and was seen raising his voting slip as supporters chanted Bello’s name at the venue.
Speaking after casting his vote, Ododo described the party’s primary in the state as peaceful and orderly, adding that party members were allowed to freely choose among aspirants after consultations reduced their number.
However, he was not included in the list of 47 aspirants earlier barred from Monday’s senate primaries by the APC.
The APC announced the development in a statement issued by Felix Morka, the party’s national publicity secretary.
