In an increasingly interconnected world, African media entrepreneurs are redefining the continent’s international image, creating platforms that celebrate excellence, encourage investment and connect influential personalities across borders.

Otunba Femi
Among those advancing this vision is Otunba Olufemi Salako, the Nigerian journalist, media entrepreneur and Publisher of Triangle International Magazine, who celebrated his 46th birthday on October 8, 2026.
Born in Ilaro, Ogun State, Salako has transformed his media enterprise into an internationally oriented platform promoting African leadership, enterprise, governance and professional achievement.

His organisation’s flagship Face of Africa Leadership Awards has become an important feature of its international activities, recognising distinguished personalities across government, business, education and public service.

The 2026 edition, held at King’s College London alongside Triangle Magazine’s tenth anniversary celebrations, recognised prominent figures including Governors Babajide Sanwo-Olu, Chukwuma Soludo, Hope Uzodimma and Dauda Lawal, alongside Minister Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, legal luminary Afe Babalola and business leader Kola Adesina.
Previous honourees have included the late Archbishop Desmond Tutu, Mentoring Commandant Alistair of TECD Foundation and former Commonwealth Secretary-General Chief Emeka Anyaoku.
Beyond awards, Salako’s international engagements have encouraged dialogue on diaspora investment, knowledge transfer, leadership and Africa’s development opportunities.
His next major initiative, scheduled for Oxford in April 2027, will explore Africa’s digital renaissance, leadership and technological sovereignty.

As friends, colleagues and admirers celebrate his birthday, Salako’s journey offers an inspiring example of how African-owned media institutions can build international relevance while maintaining their cultural identity.
At 46, his greatest opportunity may lie not simply in celebrating African excellence, but in helping transform recognition into partnerships, opportunities and lasting continental progress.
