Fresh details have surfaced on the Federal Government’s post-crisis intervention in Tudun Biri, Kaduna State, highlighting a coordinated rebuilding effort following the tragic military drone incident that claimed lives and destroyed property.
Speaking to journalists in the community on Friday, the state Commissioner for Information, Ahmed Maiyaki, said the recovery plan was being implemented through close collaboration between the Federal Government and the state authorities.
He disclosed that the partnership had delivered 134 housing units in the first phase of reconstruction, with the homes already inaugurated by Vice President Kashim Shettima. According to Maiyaki, the houses were allocated to families of victims as well as other affected residents.
Beyond housing, the commissioner noted that the Nigerian military constructed a school in the area, while the state government provided alternative farmlands complete with Certificates of Occupancy to families whose original lands were repurposed for the rebuilding project.
He added that a skills acquisition centre had been established to support youth development and economic recovery within the community.
Maiyaki further revealed that places of worship impacted by the incident had been rebuilt, including the mosque, alongside the construction of a new church aimed at fostering interfaith harmony.
On infrastructure, he said the government delivered a six-kilometre access road, installed solar-powered street lighting, and built a Level-2 health facility to improve access to medical services.
Tudun Biri, located near Kaduna International Airport, was the site of a December 2023 Kaduna drone strike that resulted in fatalities and widespread destruction, prompting federal and state authorities to initiate a comprehensive reconstruction programme.
