As Nigeria moves closer to the 2027 general elections, political parties are strengthening their campaign structures, drawing on experienced political figures, former governors and influential stakeholders to consolidate support across the country.

The ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) has included former Ogun State Governor, Senator Ibikunle Amosun, CON, among the advisers in its revised Presidential Campaign Council (PCC) membership list.

Amosun, who governed Ogun State from 2011 to 2019 and subsequently served in the Nigerian Senate, is listed as the seventh name under the Advisers category.

His inclusion brings renewed attention to the role of experienced political leaders in shaping campaign strategies, managing party relationships and strengthening grassroots mobilisation ahead of the presidential election.

The former governor remains a notable political figure in Ogun State and the wider South-West, having played significant roles in state governance and national politics.

The development also comes as the APC seeks to coordinate its political structures across Nigeria’s six geopolitical zones, while addressing economic concerns, public expectations and the challenges of electoral competition.
