President Bola Tinubu is currently meeting with governors elected on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC) at the Presidential Villa, Abuja, as political activities intensify ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The meeting with members of the Progressives Governors Forum (PGF) began shortly before 4pm on Thursday, following a separate session of the National Economic Council (NEC) chaired by Vice President Kashim Shettima.
The agenda of the meeting had not been officially disclosed as of the time of filing this report, while the session was still ongoing.
The engagement comes eight days after the official commencement of campaigns for the 2027 elections, in line with the timetable released by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
It also comes five days after the APC unveiled members of its Presidential Campaign Council for the 2027 election.
The council is headed by former Zamfara State Governor, Senator Abdulaziz Yari, who serves as Director-General.
With the 2027 campaign season now underway, Thursday’s meeting is expected to focus on party coordination, grassroots mobilisation, campaign strategy and other political issues ahead of the elections.
The PGF remains a key platform for coordination among APC governors, while Tinubu has continued to hold consultations with party leaders, governors and other stakeholders as the ruling party seeks to consolidate its political structure ahead of 2027.
Details of the meeting are expected to emerge after the governors’ engagement with the President.
