After much delays and frantic efforts by the voters, Col Kefas Agbu of the PDP was declared winner of Taraba governorship election.
Prof. M. A Abdulazeez, Taraba state Returning Officer announced at 12:30 am on Tuesday.
By the announcement, Kefas Agbu, is hereby the governor-elect. He scored the highest number of votes from the 16 local governments in the 18 March election.
The professor and returning officer for the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), said PDP’s Agbu polled 302,614 votes to defeat the candidate of the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP), Prof. Muhammad Yahaya, who scored 202,277 votes, and Candidate of the All Progressive Congress, APC, Emmanuel Bwacha, polled 142,502 votes.
Col. Kefas Agbu is a retired Nigerian army lieutenant colonel and former PDP state chairman as well as NIMASA. Young, articulate and a new wind in the State’s political path.
Elated Kefas after waiting for days spoke and thanked voters and the people of the state for keeping faith with the party, promises to deliver an inclusive policies and reaffirming the party’s dominance, strength and unity at the poll.
He stressed the readiness of the administration to hit the ground running from day one they assumes office.
Also speaking, the outgoing Governor Darius Ishaku, congratulated the governor-elect for standing firm and holding forth the storm, expressing confidence in the capacity and capability of Kefas to move the state forward in today’s modern good governance.
