President Bola Tinubu has returned to Lagos ahead of the Eid-el-Fitr celebrations, following a brief but high-level diplomatic engagement in the United Kingdom.
The President, accompanied by First Lady Oluremi Tinubu, arrived in the early hours of Friday, with the presidential aircraft touching down at the Presidential Wing of the Murtala Muhammed International Airport around 1:15 a.m.
He was received on arrival by key government figures, including Chief of Staff Femi Gbajabiamila and Lagos State Deputy Governor Obafemi Hamzat. Also present were Ibijoke Sanwo-Olu, wife of the Lagos State governor, alongside chieftains of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
Tinubu is expected to spend the Eid-el-Fitr holiday in Lagos before returning to Abuja to resume official engagements at the Presidential Villa.
During the two-day visit to the UK, the Nigerian leader and the First Lady were hosted by King Charles III and Queen Camilla at a state banquet held at Windsor Castle.
The visit also featured bilateral talks with British Prime Minister Keir Starmer at 10 Downing Street, where both sides explored avenues to deepen cooperation.
As part of the engagements, Nigeria and the United Kingdom signed several Memoranda of Understanding focused on port development and expanding trade relations, signalling renewed efforts to strengthen economic ties between the two countries.
