Kano Police Commissioner CP Ibrahim Adamu Bakori Rallies Stakeholders to Eradicate Thuggery and Rehabilitate Youth (Hausa version below)

Kano, Nigeria – In a bold and determined address at a high-level stakeholders’ meeting, the recently appointed Commissioner of Police for Kano State, CP Ibrahim Adamu Bakori, PhD, has reaffirmed his commitment to restoring peace, curbing thuggery, and rehabilitating youths across the state.

Speaking on April 13th, 2025, at the Sani Abacha Indoor Stadium, Kofar Mata, Kano, during a stakeholders’ forum organized by the Kano State Taskforce Committee on Security Restoration and Youth Rehabilitation, CP Bakori delivered a powerful message focused on unity, prevention, and collective responsibility.

Appointed in early 2025, CP Bakori brings to the position decades of policing experience, academic excellence, and a reputation for community-centered security strategies. A holder of a PhD and fellow of several national and international security institutes (sfipma, mnim, mnips, masis), he is already gaining recognition for driving innovative security reforms in Kano State.

In his address, CP Bakori lauded the formation and commitment of the Taskforce Committee, emphasizing its critical role in fostering synergy among security agencies within the state. “When I assumed duty,” he stated, “I was acutely aware of the challenges ahead. We identified thuggery—particularly the notorious Fadan Daba—and drug abuse as top priorities.”

He announced that under his leadership, the police command has already arrested over 150 individuals involved in violent crimes, recovered dangerous weapons, seized illicit drugs, and retrieved stolen properties—an indication of decisive action being taken to safeguard lives and property.

But beyond enforcement, the Commissioner stressed the importance of addressing root causes, such as poverty, unemployment, and lack of educational or vocational opportunities. “We must work together to provide alternatives for our youth,” he said. “This means investing in education, vocational training, and recreational programs that engage our young people and offer them real pathways to success.”

He further called on traditional rulers—especially Masu Unguwanni (Ward Heads)—to take active roles in community policing, describing them as the “ears and eyes” of the society. He urged them to study their areas, liaise closely with Divisional Police Officers (DPOs), and identify emerging threats proactively. “If we work together,” he declared, “there will be no more Daba in Kano.”

His rallying cry, “no more Daba in Kano,” resonated powerfully with attendees and marks a new chapter of collaborative security and youth-focused reforms.

As Kano continues to face the dual challenge of insecurity and youth unrest, the vision and leadership of CP Bakori offer renewed hope. Kano, Najeriya – A wani muhimmin taron masu ruwa da tsaki da aka gudanar a Kano, sabon Kwamishinan ‘Yan Sanda na Jihar Kano, CP Ibrahim Adamu Bakori, PhD, ya bayyana tsare-tsarensa na kawo karshen ayyukan daba da kuma gyaran halayen matasa a fadin jihar.

Taron wanda Kwamitin Aikin Gaggawa na Jihar Kano kan Tabbatar da Tsaro da Gyaran Matasa ya shirya, ya gudana ne a ranar Lahadi, 13 ga Afrilu, 2025 a dakin taro na cikin gida na Sani Abacha, Kofar Mata.

CP Bakori, wanda aka nada a farkon shekarar 2025, ya shahara wajen tsara sabbin hanyoyin tsaro tare da gogewa da kwarewa a aikin ‘yan sanda, da kasancewa memba da abokin huldar cibiyoyin nazarin tsaro na cikin gida da na waje (sfipma, mnim, mnips, masis).

A jawabinsa, CP Bakori ya yabawa kwamitin da hadin gwiwar hukumomin tsaro da kuma nasarorin da aka samu tun bayan da aka kafa kwamitin. “Da na karbi ragamar aiki a matsayin kwamishina, na fahimci babbar matsalar tsaro da ke gabanmu,” in ji shi. “Mun mayar da hankali kan dabi’un daba musamman Fadan Daba da kuma amfani da miyagun kwayoyi a tsakanin matasa.”

Ya bayyana cewa a karkashin jagorancinsa, an kama sama da mutane 150 da ke da hannu a aikata laifukan daba da tashin hankali, an kwato makamai, miyagun kwayoyi da kuma dukiyoyin da aka sata.

Sai dai ya jaddada cewa hakan shi ne matakin farko, inda ya ce dole ne a magance tushen matsalolin daba da shaye-shaye, wadanda ke da alaka da rashin aikin yi, ilimi da hanyoyin dogaro da kai.

“Dole mu hada kai mu samar wa matasa hanyoyin samun ilimi, horo da sana’o’in dogaro da kai. Ta haka ne za mu basu damar fuskantar rayuwa cikin kwanciyar hankali da kuma gujewa aikata laifi,” in ji CP Bakori.

Kwamishinan ya kuma bukaci shugabannin gargajiya, musamman Masu Unguwanni, da su bada cikakken hadin kai wajen tsaro. Ya bukaci su rika lura da unguwanninsu, gano matsalolin tsaro da hadin gwiwa da DPO domin magance su tun kafin su tsananta. “Idan muka hada kai da goyon bayan jama’a, ba za a kara jin labarin Daba a Kano ba,” in ji shi.

A karshe, ya yabawa dukkan masu ruwa da tsaki a harkar tsaro da kuma wadanda ke kokarin ganin matasa sun dawo cikin sahun rayuwa ta gari.

Tare da hadin gwiwar al’umma, hukumomin tsaro da shugabannin gargajiya, shugabancin CP Bakori na iya zama tamkar abin koyi ga sauran jihohin Najeriya wajen dawo da zaman lafiya da ceto rayuwar matasa.
