Minister of Women affairs and social development, Dame Pallen-Tallen has called on Nigerians to stand against all forms of Gender Based Violence especially among people with Disabilities in the Country.
Pallen-Tallen made the call today at the opening ceremony of the training of GBV advocate among PWDs held in Abuja, Thursday.
The Minister stated that anybody that contribute to GBV should face the law and must not be allowed to live with people, so as to curb initiation among young people.
The former Taraba Deputy Governor noted that PWDs needs to live happily in the society, adding that they needs the support of citizens and Governments to stop stigmatization and discrimination.
In her opening remarks, the Executive Director, Inclusive Friends Association, Grace Jerry charged federal government to strengthen social protection systems and mainstream the Programme to cater for the needs of Persons With Disabilities.
Jerry appealed to the law enforcement agencies to built its capacity on disability issues with a view to eradicate attitudinal, physical and systematic barriers that PWDs face when trying to access their services.
