Anambra State Wins Big at National Primary Healthcare Leadership Challenge Awards
Anambra State has emerged as a standout achiever in the 2024 National Primary Healthcare Leadership Challenge, clinching two prestigious awards. The state was recognised as the Best State in the Southeast Zone and the Overall Best State in Nigeria for its exceptional commitment to primary healthcare delivery.
As a reward for its remarkable performance, Anambra State was awarded a total prize of $1.2 million. This includes $500,000 for being the best state in the Southeast and an additional $700,000 for securing the overall top position in the country.
The awards were presented at a high-profile event powered by the Nigeria Governors’ Forum, in collaboration with the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, Aliko Dangote Foundation, Federal Ministry of Health, and UNICEF.
The Primary Healthcare Leadership Challenge aims to enhance governors’ commitment to human capital development and strengthen primary healthcare systems. The initiative focuses on mobilising resources, promoting accountability, and fostering innovative approaches to achieving gender-specific health outcomes across Nigeria.
Anambra’s success highlights its dedication to improving the quality of life for its citizens through robust healthcare interventions, serving as an inspiring model for other states to emulate.
