
The Federal Ministry of Education has announced the appointment of Ikharo Attah as Special Adviser on Media and Communication in the Office of the Honourable Minister of Education, Maruf Tunji Alausa.
The appointment was conveyed in a letter dated April 28, 2026, and is aimed at strengthening public engagement, enhancing transparency, and improving the communication of ongoing reforms and initiatives within the education sector.
In his new role, Attah is expected to lead the development and implementation of the Minister’s media and communication strategy. His duties will include managing media relations, coordinating public communications, overseeing digital and social media engagement, and ensuring consistent messaging across all platforms. He will also provide advisory support on high-level communication strategies and handle crisis communication to protect the Ministry’s public image.
Attah, a seasoned broadcast journalist, brings over two decades of experience in the media industry. He began his career with DBN Television and currently works with Independent Television, where he rose to the position of Manager of News and Current Affairs.
Beyond journalism, he has held several public service roles, including serving as Chairman of the FCT Task Force on Traffic Decongestion in 2019 and Chairman of the FCT Task Force on Enforcement of COVID-19 Protocols in 2020. In November 2021, he was appointed Senior Special Assistant on Monitoring, Inspection, and Enforcement in the FCT Administration.
The Ministry expressed confidence that his wealth of experience will contribute significantly to advancing its communication objectives and supporting ongoing reforms in the education sector.
