As London faces a challenging Christmas holiday, BEN Television got a statement from the Mayor of London, Sadiq Khan, on Tier 4.

Mayor of London Sadiq Khan said:

“London’s move into Tier 4 will come as a bitter disappointment to all of our city’s diverse communities and businesses, who have made monumental sacrifices this past year. It is going to be a very different and difficult festive period for us all. But we cannot waste all our efforts now.

“So many of the heroes who have helped our city through this crisis so far are Black, Asian and other minority ethnicity Londoners. I am so thankful to all the key workers who have given us hope through these dark times. From nurses and doctors, to supermarket staff, to postal workers – their hard work is why we absolutely must stick to the rules and follow these new restrictions. We must stay home and not mix with any other households in order to keep them, and our city’s most vulnerable, safe.

“There is light at the end of the tunnel now that the vaccine is being rolled out across our city. It would be so tragic to lose more lives needlessly now that could be protected very soon.”
