The Akwa Ibom State Commissioner for Information, Hon. Aniekan Umanah, has strongly condemned recent comments made by Nollywood actor and politician, Kenneth Okonkwo, describing them as slanderous and a gross insult to the people of Akwa Ibom State.
Speaking earlier today on The Morning Show on Arise TV, Umanah criticized Okonkwo’s remarks regarding Governor Umo Eno’s political realignment, calling them “unwarranted, offensive, and a distortion of democratic values.”
“The term used by Kenneth Okonkwo is completely out of line. As an actor and a lawyer, his comments are not only irresponsible but deeply disrespectful to Governor Umo Eno and the peace-loving people of Akwa Ibom State,” Umanah asserted.
He further emphasized that Governor Eno, like every Nigerian, has the constitutional right to associate with any political party of his choosing. According to him, the Governor’s political direction enjoys broad support across the state.
Describing Okonkwo as “a meddlesome interloper with no stake in Akwa Ibom’s affairs,” Umanah advised him to stay out of matters that do not concern him.
“It is both ironic and hypocritical for Kenneth Okonkwo, who has a history of jumping from one political party to another, to question anyone’s loyalty. His repeated political misadventures only weaken the credibility of his opinions,” Umanah added.
The Commissioner urged the people of Akwa Ibom and the broader public to dismiss Okonkwo’s remarks, reaffirming the state’s unwavering support for Governor Eno’s leadership and developmental vision.

Gov Umoh
Governor Umo Eno recently made national headlines after aligning with a new political bloc, a decision that has drawn both criticism and commendation. Umanah, however, maintained that the move was taken in the enlightened interest of the state’s development and inclusive governance.
