Kano State Governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf, has commended the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and security agencies for the peaceful and orderly conduct of bye-elections held in parts of the state on weekend.
In a statement issued on Saturday by his spokesperson, Sunusi Bature Dawakin Tofa, the governor described the exercise as a milestone in the democratic journey of Kano State.
He said the calm atmosphere recorded across polling units reflected the growing political maturity of the electorate and the effectiveness of the security arrangements put in place.
Governor Yusuf specifically appreciated residents of Kano Municipal and Ungogo State Assembly constituencies, where the bye-elections were conducted, for their cooperation and commitment to peaceful participation.
He also lauded political parties and other stakeholders, particularly the All Progressives Congress (APC), for complying with electoral rules and avoiding actions that could disrupt the process.
He reiterated his government’s commitment to working closely with electoral bodies and security agencies to ensure that future elections in the state remain transparent, credible and violence-free.
