The Federal Government has intensified efforts to advance President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda in the education sector with the deployment of a digital Monitoring Smart Boards Dashboard to the Federal Capital Territory Universal Basic Education Board (FCT UBEB).
The initiative, powered by the Nigerian Education Data Infrastructure (NEDI) and implemented by the Universal Basic Education Commission (UBEC) in collaboration with the Federal Ministry of Education, is aimed at strengthening school supervision, enhancing accountability, and promoting real-time data-driven decision-making across basic education institutions.
Speaking during the handover ceremony in Abuja, the Director of Information and Communication Technology at the Federal Ministry of Education, Zainab Abukur, who represented the Minister of Education, described the deployment as a significant milestone in translating the Renewed Hope Agenda into practical reforms within the education sector.
According to her, the Monitoring Dashboard will provide education administrators with real-time data from NEDI, enabling them to remotely access accurate and up-to-date information on school performance and operations. She noted that the technology would reduce reliance on routine physical inspections while facilitating faster, evidence-based decision-making.
Abukur added that the adoption of digital tools demonstrates the Federal Government’s commitment to building a more efficient, transparent, and responsive education system that prioritises accountability and improved learning outcomes.
Receiving the dashboard on behalf of the Board, Acting Chairman of FCT UBEB, Florence Wenegeme, described the intervention as timely and strategic, noting that it aligns with ongoing education reforms.
She stated that the platform would strengthen internal management systems, improve oversight of schools across the Federal Capital Territory, and enhance service delivery. Wenegeme also commended the Federal Government for sustaining reforms aimed at modernising education administration.
Following the handover, a technical team conducted a demonstration of the dashboard, highlighting its monitoring capabilities and operational features designed to support seamless supervision and improved data management.
The Federal Ministry of Education said the intervention underscores its commitment to implementing President Tinubu’s education reform agenda through innovation and technology. The Ministry assured Nigerians that it would continue to deepen reforms, expand digital infrastructure, and ensure measurable improvements in access, quality, and efficiency across the nation’s education system.
