Preparations have gathered momentum for the 2026 edition of the Megastar Man of the Decade Awards following a courtesy visit by the organizers to the former Governor of Ogun State and Senator representing Ogun East Senatorial District, Otunba Engr. Gbenga Daniel.

The visit forms part of pre-event engagements aimed at bringing together political leaders, public office holders, business executives, and distinguished personalities to celebrate excellence and examine critical issues surrounding national development.

Speaking during the visit, Senator Daniel reflected on his experience in public service, emphasizing that governance must remain steadfastly focused on serving the masses.

“There is one golden rule that I applied when I was in office, and I do not think that rule fails: democracy is government by the people,” Daniel said. “Whatever you do, however you do it, just ensure that it is about the people. The golden rule is: is this decision in the overall interest of the masses? Governance is about the people, and leaders must avoid nepotism, which ultimately leads to corruption.”

The 2026 awards ceremony is themed “The Road to 2027: Citizens, Stakeholders, and the Democracy We Choose,” a focus designed to stimulate dialogue on Nigeria’s democratic progression, civic responsibility, and governance ahead of the next general elections.

Addressing the theme, Senator Daniel urged citizens and key political stakeholders to take an active role in evaluating potential leaders rather than being influenced by short-term financial inducements.

“Stakeholders and citizens should do more than observing—they should interrogate and get involved,” he noted. “It is not just because someone comes with money. You must take a conscious look at the people presented to you. Otherwise, you take money once and remain stuck with poor governance for four or eight years, starting a vicious cycle of complaints.”

During the courtesy call, the Megastar delegation formally presented Senator Daniel with an official invitation letter to serve as a panelist at the upcoming event in Abuja.

According to the organizers, the Megastar Man of the Decade Awards 2026 will blend the recognition of outstanding achievements with strategic discussions on leadership, public accountability, and democratic choices facing the nation. With the countdown officially underway, interested participants and organizations have been invited to secure tables for the gathering in the nation’s capital.
