The Renewed Hope Global Virtual Town Hall Conference achieved another milestone yesterday (Saturday), hosting a highly successful engagement with Mr. Olanipekun Olukoyede, the Executive Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC). Mr. Olukoyede’s participation underscored his commitment to transparency and accountability, engaging with Nigerians worldwide on the EFCC’s challenges, achievements, and innovative strategies to combat corruption—a persistent issue hindering Nigeria’s growth and development.

A significant highlight of the conference was Mr. Olukoyede’s comprehensive update on the ongoing Betta Edu fraud investigation. He stated:

“The Betta Edu fraud case is ongoing and involves over 150 bank accounts across 18 banks. Multiple staff members, both senior and junior, including Betta Edu, are currently on suspension. To date, we have successfully recovered over 30 billion naira, with additional funds still being retrieved as recently as last week. Thousands of US dollars have also been recovered in connection with this matter. The fraud involves over 42 companies, including numerous fintech firms.”
