In a sharp rebuttal to public allegations made by Mr. Gbenga Olawepo-Hashim, Dr. Funmi Olawepo has issued a press release categorically denying his claims and redirecting focus to his documented parental and financial neglect.

My attention has been drawn to a series of false and defamatory statements made by Mr. Gbenga Olawepo-Hashim, including his reckless allegation that the All Progressives Congress (APC) is “using me” to frustrate his political ambition, and the equally baseless claim that I tried to “frame him up” with the UK Government and the National Intelligence Agency (NIA).

These claims are completely false, malicious, and a desperate attempt to distract from Mr. Olawepo-Hashim’s own long-standing pattern of neglect; both parental and financial as well as his involvement in acts of forgery and falsification of corporate and court records, for which judgment has already been delivered by a competent court.

Let me be clear:

Was it any political party or individual that directed him to abandon his duties as a father for over nine years?

Was it the APC that stopped him from paying his children’s school fees or providing for their upkeep?

Was it the APC that instructed him to ignore valid court orders or to forge company documents in an unlawful attempt to remove me as shareholder and director of our jointly owned company?

These were his personal choices, and he alone must take full responsibility for them.

His claim that I failed to provide account details for the children’s needs is false and absurd. I have extensive email records from 2016–2025, as well as school correspondence and invoices sent repeatedly to him and his legal team, all of which were ignored.

He only made limited payments of $1,400 in July, $1,500 in August, $1,500 in early September, and $16,400 later in September 2025, and only after my public outcry in June 2025 when his political image came under scrutiny.

Furthermore, his allegation that he has been “denied access to his children” is false and malicious. The UK court order expressly grants him physical access to the children while in the UK, as well as email, phone, and text communication at least once a week — obligations he has failed to honour for nine years.

There is irrefutable evidence of my consistent efforts to promote co-parenting,all of which he has rebuffed. Mr. Olawepo-Hashim has shown a consistent pattern of absconding from his parental and moral responsibilities.

Regarding his outrageous claim that I attempted to “frame him up” with the UK Government or the NIA — I categorically deny such allegations. They are reckless, defamatory, and baseless. I challenge him to produce credible evidence to the appropriate authorities or face the legal consequences of willfully spreading falsehoods.

For the sake of our children, I will not be drawn into discussions that would only create further distraction. The court has made judgement as an unbiased 3rd party based on the facts before it. We don’t need a retrial. He needs to comply with both UK and Nigerian court orders. What matters now is not what went wrong in the marriage, but how we can prioritize the well-being of the children between us. Their physical, emotional, educational, and overall health needs must remain the focus.

That is, and will continue to be, my utmost priority.

I wish him well in his political pursuits, but he must desist from peddling lies and instead face his legal, financial, and parental obligations. The debts he and his companies owe me remain unpaid, and no amount of misinformation will erase the documented facts and court rulings already on record.

The facts are clear.

The evidence is overwhelming.

The truth will prevail.

Concluding her statement, Dr. Olawepo reiterated that her primary focus remains the well-being of her children, standing by the court’s judgments and challenging Mr. Olawepo-Hashim to do the same.
