Governor Ademola Adeleke has appointed music star Davido as Head of Youth Mobilisation for his campaign council ahead of the upcoming Osun State governorship election.
Davido, whose real name is David Adeleke, announced the appointment on his X (formerly Twitter) account on Tuesday, expressing enthusiasm about supporting the governor’s re-election bid.
“I have been appointed by the Governor of Osun State… as Head of Youth Mobilisation of the Campaign Council,” he wrote, pledging commitment to a smooth campaign and victory at the polls.
Governor Adeleke, who is seeking a second term under the Accord Party, faces a crucial election scheduled for August 8 amid heightened political activity in the state.
Davido’s appointment underscores his deepening involvement in Osun politics. A longstanding supporter of the governor, the singer has actively participated in previous campaigns and political engagements. In 2025, he was also appointed Chairman of the Osun Sports Trust Fund, a role aimed at attracting investment into sports development.
With a vast youth following across Nigeria and beyond, Davido’s new role is expected to boost grassroots mobilisation and energise younger voters as the election approaches.
