Abuja – The Minister of Industry, Tracks and Investment, Otumba Richard Adebayo on Monday said skill acquisition among the youths was a guarantee measure of creating Micro and small enterprises that can grow the economy.
Speaking at the launch of the Young Professional Programmes (YPP), in Abuja, Adebayo noted the development of human capital was a gate way to economic development.
The programme is in a bid to harnessed potentials and developed skills among young officers in the Ministry.
“I am sure that this programme which is a continuous professional career development strategy can contribute to speedy growth and development of our economy.
“Development Strategy are becoming more dynamic and transisting from material economy to invest into human development that can provide high tech services for economic growth”, Adebayo stated
The minster emplained the need for young officers in the Ministry to be equipped with digital skills as a means of impacting on the economy through the use of technology.
He commended the Commodities and Export Department for the initiative noting that, “there is a need to build human capital to fill in knowledge gap for a productive workforce”.
On her part, Minister of State for Industry, Trade and Investment, AMB. Mariam Katagum, said the programme was design to grow young professionals in the Ministry with skills as a means of improving their productivity.
Katagum, further said the programme would provide opportunities to emerging leaders.
Katagum, who was represented by the Permanent Secretary in the ministry Nasir Sani-Gwarzo, stated that:, “Globally young professionals programmes are used for haman capital development, which is an essential components in nation building.
“Skilled human capital has been pivotal and considered to be one of the fundamental solutions to challenges of economic growth and development.
“We are looking forward to seeing work plan going forward, as well as witnessing the exploits of this great plan.
