Zamfara Cargo Airport Project: Dauda Lawal’s Government accused of Committing contempt of Court.
The contractor handling the Zamfara Cargo Airport Project, Avic International Engineering Ltd has dragged the Zamfara State Government to an Abuja High Court over the revocation of the Airport Project.
The contractor, approached the court for redress over the gross injustice and violation of his fundamental rights, to challenge the Governor Dauda Lawal’s administration for revoking the contract, after he used his monies for the execution of the project, which has now reached almost 60% completion.
The contractor alleged that Gov Dauda Lawal Dare requested him, through a consultant, who was a former commissioner in Kaduna state, to implicate former Governor Matawalle, so that he can be allowed to continue with the construction project.
He alleged that the former commissioner, who is also a friend to the state governor, insisted that the contractor must tell him how much money he gave to former governor Matawalle, if he wants the government to allow him continue with the contract.
However, according to the contractor who was shocked by the demand, told the proxy consultant that he did not give Matawalle any money.
The contractor said he cannot tell lies against anybody just to be allowed to continue with the project.
He further said he took the decision to approach the Abuja High Court, to seek redress and justice.
Meanwhile, some keen political observers in the state had alleged that, Dauda Lawal’s political supporters and thugs had, on hearing of the announcement by INEC that the PDP won the election, invaded the project site, carting away most of the moveable assets and belongings of the contractor.
This was in addition to the mass looting, vandalisation and other atrocities committed by the supporters of the governor in various parts of the state, they alleged.
They accused the governor of Committing contempt of court, by engaging in Media trial against the former governor for fear of the outcome of the courts decision on the matter.
The political observers therefore, advised the Court to take prompt action on the Zamfara state governor for violating its rules.
