Youths Admonish To Embrace Agriculture

Youths in Nigeria have been called upon to embrace agriculture in order to create wealth and reduce unemployment, insecurity and other social vices.
The National Coordinator, Nigeria Young Farmers Network (NYFN), Promise Amahah, said the youths lack knowledge of business opportunities in agriculture.
Amahah who said during a rally in Abuja, noted that the goal of President Muhammadu Buhari to lift millions of Nigerians out of poverty in 10 years can only be achieve when young people get involved in agriculture.
According to him, youth across the country lack the knowledge of business opportunities in agriculture, adding that agriculture is a source of wealth creation.
Apeaking to journalist, the Director of Federal Department of Agricultural Extension (FDAE) Engr. Frank Satimari, said that government plans to sensitize and mobilize youths for agriculture.
Engr. Satimari who was represented by Muhammed Bashiru, a Deputy Director of Federal Ministry of Agroculture and Rural Development, Muhammad said that FDAE plans to train and deploy 75,000 youths aimed at creating new skills and generate job for the teeming population of unemployed youths in Nigeria.
“We are concerned with the mobilizing the youth for agriculture. That is why the Ministry currently mandated the Federal Department of Agricultural Extension (FDAE) to train and deploy 75,000 young farmers ratio.
“The objective is to create new skills and generate job for the teeming population of unemployed youth in Nigeria, to increase the productivity of farmers through a continual access to information, innovation and technology for improved practices in the agricultural value chain”, he said.
