The 1st Coronation Anniversary of the 21st Olu of Warri, Ogiame Atuwatse 111 has commenced in Warri with praise worship.
The praise worship tagged, “Iwere Praise Day” was held on Wednesdsy at the Aghofen church, Olu Palace, Warri.
The event which was attended by hundreds of Itsekiri sons and daughters within and in the diaspora featured praise worship and prayers for the king and the entire Iwereland.
The king, Ogiame Atuwatse III was flanked by his wife, Queen (Olori) Atuwatse 111, palace chiefs and friends of the Iwereland
The praise worship was jointly led by the Iwere Praise Choir
and different gospel artists while
the prayer session was conducted by Bishop Bawo Otone
Rev. Chris Akperi offered words of ministration at the event.
The Iwere kingdom had lined up five days programmes to mark the 1st coronation anniversary of Ogiame Atuwatse 111 who was crowned king on Aug. 21, 2021 at Ode-Itsekiri, the ancestral home of the itsekiri nation.
Earlier, two novelty football matches were played as part of the programmes.
In the female category, the Olori Babes and Oma-Olagbara played 3-3 while Chevron FC and INYC/Chiefs in the male category settled for one goal a piece.
The match was played at the Nana College mini stadium, Warri.
The ceremony will climax on Sunday, Aug. 21 with a Thanksgiving service at the Palace church.
