
The Executive Secretary of the Universal Basic Education Commission (UBEC), Dr. Aisha Garba, has expressed deep shock and sympathy over a fire incident that occurred at LGEA Primary School, Ater, in Ukum Local Government Area of Benue State. The incident, which resulted in injuries to seven pupils, has prompted UBEC to extend its heartfelt condolences to the affected pupils, their families, and the entire Benue State community.
According to a statement signed by Dr. Garba, UBEC is closely monitoring the situation and working with the Benue State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB) and the state government to ensure that the affected pupils receive comprehensive medical care. The Commission has commended the swift response of the Benue State government, led by Governor Hyacinth Iormem Alia, in managing the situation.
UBEC has urged school administrators nationwide to strengthen safety protocols and ensure strict adherence to preventive measures to prevent such incidents in the future.
Dr. Garba has expressed UBEC’s prayers for the speedy and full recovery of the injured pupils and their families during this difficult time.
