Barrister Nyesom Wike, the Rivers State Governor, says there will be no more Nigeria if his Benue State counterpart, His Excellency Samuel Ortom, is assassinated.
Governor Wike also said sends a warning message to the Nigerian President, Muhammadu Buhari, and the party in government, All Progressives Congress (APC) will be held responsible if Ortom is killed.
The Benue State was governor has to run for his life as FUNAM attempted THe Fulani Nationality Movement said they carried out the attack. Governor Wike stated this while reacting to attempt on Ortom’s life by gunmen who trailed him to a river bank in Tyo Mu along Makurdi-Gboko Road in the Makurdi Local Government Area of Benue State on Saturday.
Special Assistant on Media, Kelvin Ebiri, in a statement signed said, “If you kill Ortom, then be prepared to bury Nigeria. If anything happens to Governor Ortom, the Federal Government will be held responsible and they should be prepared that there will be no more Nigeria.”
Wike also described as disturbing, the growing trend where the life of incumbent governors are brazenly threatened.
The Rivers governor recalled how the former General Officer Commanding 6 Division of the Nigerian Army in Port Harcourt, Major General Jamil Sarham, and some APC chieftains had allegedly concluded plan to assassinate him during the 2019 general election.
Governor of Rivers State, Nyesom Wike, has warned that Nigeria may be plunged into another civil war if his Benue counterpart, Samuel Ortom is killed.
He added that the civil war may mark the end of Nigeria as a country.
“If you kill Ortom, then be prepared to bury Nigeria.
“If anything happens to Governor Ortom, the Federal Government will be held responsible and they should be prepared that there will be no more Nigeria,” Wike said in a statement in a signed by his Special Assistant, Media, Kelvin Ebiri.
But his security details were able to fight off the assailants.
Samuel Ortom had blamed a group of he has been at loggerheads with since he promulgated anti-open grazing law in Benue state for the attack.
Wike also claimed that a former General Officer Commanding (GOC) 6 Division and All Progressives Congress (APC) chieftains planned to assassinate him during the 2019 general election.
