The Committee of Vice-Chancellors of Nigerian Universities has paid a courtesy call on the Nigerian High Commissioner, His Excellency, Ambassador Sarafa Tunji Isola. This is coming on the heels of other organisations and groups meetings to share the direction of his appointment since arrival over the last two months.

The team was led by its Secretary-General, Prof Yakubu Ochefu.
According to Ochefu, “The CVC are glad to be at the Nigerian High Commission to meet with the High Commissioner who have also posited for them to meet with the UUKi an organisation responsible for Universities in the United Kingdom for strategic educational relationship with the committee of Vice-Chancellors of Federal Universities.” he stated.
High on the visit is the meeting with Universities UK International. UUKi is the international arm of Universities UK, representing UK universities and acting in their collective interests globally. They actively promote universities abroad, provide trusted information for and about them, and create new opportunities for the sector.

The meeting was attended by the Nigeria High Commission Ambassador Sarafa Tunde Ishola, the visiting CVC comprising of Professor Yakubu Aboki ochefu Secretary General Committee Of Vice Chancellors of Nigerian Universities, Prof Kabiru Bala Vice Chancellor Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, Egwunyenga Ogochukwu Vice Chancellor Delta State University, Prof Labode Popoola Vice Chancellor Osun State University, Prof Ganiyu Olatunji Vice Chancellor Osogbo Olabisi Onabanjo, Prof. Joshua Olalekan Ogunwole Vice Chancellor University Bowen University, lwo, Osun state; Prof Elijah Ayolabi Vice Chancellor Mountain Top University; Prof Shehu Garki Ado Vice Chancellor AI Qalam University Katsina; Prof Nosa Owens-lbie Vice Chancellor Caleb University; Mrs Mosun Belo -Olusoga Pro-Chancellor Olabisi Onabanjo; Prof. Nwajiuba Uzoma Chinedu Immediate Past Vice- University Chancellor, Alex Ekwueme Federal University, Ndufu Alike, Ebonyi State; Prof. Abayomi Arigbabu Honorable Commissioner Ogun State Government for Education, Science And Technology, Ogun State; Mr Adedeji Abiodun Managing Director Hezab Guaranty Ventures; Olaghere Sylverina Damilola Projects and Programmes Officer and Workshops Coordinator and other ministers.
Specifically the meeting highlights the collaboration synergy between the UK universities and the benefits of cross promotions which the High Commission is willing to spear-head and advise the CVC.
Speaking further on the meeting, Prof. Yakubu Aboki Ochefu, Secretary General Committee Of Vice Chancellors of Nigerian
Universities said, “we hope to expand on change studies, suitability of research, technology threshold, learner analytics and support in teacher orientations such as blue economy, creative economy projects amongst others”.
Vivienne Stern, Director UUKi added, that globally they have a strong network but not in Africa which are underdeveloped and there is a need to strengthen the deficits most especially in Nigeria. “This is the first time such initiative and collaboration of like-minded people is happening in the United Kingdom and thanks to the Ambassador for such an opportunity to work with the CVC”.
Prof Richard Follett, Chair of the UUKi sub-Saharan Africa policy network and Deputy Pro Vice-chancellor Intl. from Univ. of Sussex; Aisling Conboy, Higher education specialists, DTI and Richard Grubb, senior policy officer sub-Saharan Africa UUKi.
