The Zonal Director, North-West of the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), Alhaji Aliyu S. Kafindangi, today led a delegation on a courtesy visit to the Commissioner of Police, Kano State Command, CP Ibrahim Adamu Bakori, PhD, sfipma, mnim, mnips, masis, at the Bompai Police Headquarters, Kano.
The visit was aimed at reinforcing the existing synergy between the Police and NEMA in the areas of disaster management, emergency response, and protection of lives and property in Kano State.
In his remarks, the Zonal Director, Alhaji Aliyu S. Kafindangi, expressed delight at the warm reception accorded him and his entourage by the Commissioner of Police. He stated that the visit was to foster collaboration with the Police as a critical stakeholder in disaster management. He noted, “What we do is disaster management, and the Police are always the first respondents. They secure situations before we advance. We are therefore here to cement the already existing relationship and discuss areas of mutual collaboration to better serve the public.”
Responding, CP Ibrahim Adamu Bakori described the visit as an honour, acknowledging the Zonal Director as both a friend and a classmate. The CP emphasized the complementary roles of both agencies, stating: “We, the Police and NEMA, are like five and six in the protection of life. Our core duty is responding to emergencies, and therefore, we are always ready to partner with you to achieve our mandates. Our doors are always open for NEMA.”

The meeting featured fruitful discussions on areas of collaboration, information sharing, joint training, and other strategic engagements aimed at enhancing coordinated response to emergencies and strengthening the existing relationship between the Police and NEMA in Kano State.

CP Bakori reiterated the Command’s commitment to inter-agency cooperation in line with the directives of the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu, psc(+), NPM, on intelligence-led and community-oriented policing. He assured that the Kano State Police Command will continue to provide the necessary security support to NEMA and all relevant stakeholders to ensure the safety and resilience of communities across the State.
