Troops of the Joint Task Force North West, Operation Fansan Yamma, have killed two terrorists and recovered two AK-47 rifles and three motorcycles during an encounter in Rabah Local Government Area of Sokoto State.

The Media Information Officer of the Joint Task Force North West, Operation Fansan Yamma, Lt. Col. Aliyu Danja, disclosed this in a statement issued on Friday.

Danja said the operation followed credible intelligence received in the early hours of Friday, August 28, about the movement of terrorists transporting hundreds of rustled cattle through the Maikujera general area of Rabah LGA.

He said troops of Sector 2 swiftly mobilised to intercept the terrorists but encountered an ambush while advancing towards the area.

According to him, the troops responded with superior firepower, killing two terrorists and forcing the remaining fighters to flee into the surrounding bushes.

“Acting swiftly on the intelligence, troops of Sector 2 moved to intercept and attack the terrorists,” the statement said.

During an exploitation of the area after the encounter, the troops recovered two AK-47 rifles and three motorcycles abandoned by the fleeing terrorists.

Danja said the rustled cattle scattered into the bushes during the firefight, adding that troops, in collaboration with local vigilantes, were working to locate and recover the livestock.

He said the area remained calm and stable as troops continued to dominate the terrain and maintain vigilance against further terrorist activities.

“Troops of Operation Fansan Yamma remain resolute in sustaining operational momentum against terrorist and criminal elements while safeguarding lives and property across the Joint Operations Area,” Danja added.
