The Nigerian Senate has confirmed the appointment of the immediate past service chiefs as non career Ambassadors following consideration of the report of the Senate committee on Foreign Affairs.
They are General Abayomi Olonisakin Rtd (Ekiti), Lt General Tukur Buratai Rtd (Borno), Vice Admiral Ibok-Ete Ibas Rtd (Cross River), Air Marshal Sadique Baba Abubakar Rtd ( Bauchi) and Air Vice Marshal Muhammad Usman Rtd (Kano).
The confirmation was done through voice vote as President of the Senate Ahmad Lawan presented the names of each nominees for vote after the consideration of the Senate committee on Foreign Affairs.
In his remarks the President of the Senate Lawan asked that the posting of the newly confirmed Ambassadors should be done in way that will boost the security architecture because of their security background.
