The General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, Pastor Enoch Adeboye, on Monday described former Ogun State governor and senator representing Ogun East, Gbenga Daniel, as an exceptional politician and a true Omoluwabi.
Pastor Adeboye stated that having lived in Ogun State since 1983, he could confidently affirm that Daniel had distinguished himself through integrity and commitment to fulfilling promises, particularly in his relationship with the church
He made the remarks while ministering at Daniel’s 70th birthday and thanksgiving service held at Abraham’s Tabernacle in Sagamu.
Our beloved Gbenga Daniel was a governor in Ogun State and I have been living in the state since 1983. I have been through the hands of many governors, including the military, but I want to say that Otunba Gbenga Daniel has been quite exceptional,” Adeboye said.
He added that Daniel never played politics with the church and consistently fulfilled commitments made during his time in office.
“If you are looking for original Omoluwabi, Gbenga Daniel is one and people like him are quite few. That is why when he invited me to speak at his 70th birthday, I adjusted my busy schedule to be present,” he said.
The thanksgiving service was attended by several prominent personalities, including former President Olusegun Obasanjo, represented by his wife, Bola Obasanjo, as well as the Governor of Osun State, Ademola Adeleke, former Ogun State governor Ibikunle Amosun, and other traditional rulers and political leaders.
Meanwhile, the Governor of Ogun State, Dapo Abiodun, represented by his deputy, Noimot Salako-Oyedele, also praised Daniel’s contributions to governance and national development.
Abiodun noted that during his tenure as governor, Daniel brought energy and purpose to governance, laying foundations that continue to support growth and development across the state.
“As Governor of Ogun State, Otunba Gbenga Daniel brought energy and purpose to governance, laying foundations that continue to support growth and development across our state,” the governor said.
He added that Daniel, now serving as senator representing Ogun East, has continued to demonstrate dedication to public service through legislative work and representation of his constituents.
Speaking at the event, Otunba Gbenga Daniel expressed gratitude to God for the grace to celebrate his 70th birthday and for the support he has received from people over the years.
“I feel fulfilled and happy. Today is one of my happiest days. I believe we must recommit ourselves to serving our people and working for their development,” he said.
Daniel also urged Nigerians to continue supporting President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, expressing optimism that the country would achieve progress and prosperity under his leadership.
