The Renewed Hope Global Virtual Town Hall Conference a Resounding Success
In a highly anticipated and successful session, The Renewed Hope Global Virtual Town Hall Conference lived up to expectations with Honourable Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, HM Festus Keyamo, delivering significant revelations that could shape the future of Nigeria’s aviation sector.
As expected, the minister was forthright in addressing critical issues, including a long-standing agreement between Nigeria and Ethiopian Airlines, which he revealed to be skewed heavily in favor of the Ethiopian government. He called the agreement detrimental to Nigeria and its local airlines.
Keyamo also made an exclusive announcement during the conference regarding the Irrevocable Deregistration and Export Request Authorisation (IDERA), stating that the agreement had been signed just days earlier. This milestone, he said, was part of a broader effort that has seen Nigeria’s aviation rating jump from 40 to 70.5 under his stewardship.
He further discussed Nigeria’s commitment to the Cape Town Convention, a treaty designed to streamline aircraft leasing transactions and boost legal predictability. This move, Keyamo noted, is set to lower risks for lessors and increase investment in Nigeria’s aviation sector.
Another major highlight was a deal struck with the UAE for the training and retraining of Nigerian aviation personnel within the country, alongside the resumption of flights between the two nations.
Participants were also given the chance to interact with the minister. In response to a complaint about one of Nigeria’s airlines, Keyamo promised immediate action and requested more details to investigate the matter.
The conference was further enhanced by the presence of Hon. Babatunde Ogala, SAN, Senior Counsel to the President, who praised the platform for creating a direct line of communication between government officials and Nigerians at home and abroad. Ogala also expressed admiration for the Minister’s dedication, which has already resulted in notable achievements for the country’s aviation and aerospace industry.
With enthusiastic engagement from participants, the conference went beyond its allotted time, prompting calls for future sessions to be extended.
The Renewed Hope Global team has expressed its gratitude to HM Festus Keyamo for his candid revelations and to its media partners, including BEN TV, The Reflectors Newspaper, and Parrot Reporters Media Limited, for their support.
