PRESIDENT TINUBU UNVEILS 4-YEAR STRATEGIC PLAN FOR NATIONAL LOTTERY TRUST FUND
In a bid to reposition the National Lottery Trust Fund (NLTF) for greater efficiency and impact, President Bola Tinubu unveiled a comprehensive 4-year strategic plan to transform the NLTF’s operations and maximize its impact on Good Causes across Nigeria. This pivotal launch event, held at the Aso Villa Banquet Hall in Abuja, represents a significant milestone for the NLTF.
Senator George Akume, Secretary to the Government of the Federation, delivered remarks on behalf of President Tinubu, underscoring the administration’s confidence in the newly outlined strategy. Akume emphasized the plan’s potential to enhance the federal government’s support for underserved communities across Nigeria, aligning with broader efforts to drive economic transformation, ensure security, boost food production, and improve essential social services.
“President Tinubu is committed to harnessing the NLTF’s resources to drive development across the country, ensuring aid reaches many Nigerians,” stated Akume.
Appointed earlier this year, Comrade Tosin Adeyanju, Executive Secretary and CEO of the NLTF, expressed his dedication to fostering a more innovative, people-centered organization. His leadership approach emphasises cooperation between agencies, civil society organizations (CSOs), and local communities. “Our commitment is to create a collaborative, inclusive NLTF that works in harmony with other stakeholders to fulfill our mandate,” Adeyanju said, adding that the new management team is poised to work together with industry partners and national agencies for the benefit of Nigerians as seen in this newly delivered policy direction.
This strategic plan, marking a fresh chapter for the NLTF, outlines priorities and frameworks for distributing funds generated from lottery activities, directing resources towards public welfare projects that support healthcare, education, and infrastructure development.
The National Lottery Trust Fund was established as a government agency responsible for administering and distributing lottery-generated funds to support public welfare initiatives. Its core mission is to finance projects that uplift vulnerable communities, foster social cohesion, and contribute to national development. Over the years, the NLTF has supported projects in health, education, and sports, contributing to Nigeria’s socio-economic growth. Under the new leadership, the agency is set to expand its outreach and impact across Nigeria’s six geopolitical zones, ensuring its resources benefit the nation’s most underserved communities.
