Abuja, Nigeria – President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved a fresh round of appointments into 10 Federal Government agencies and commissions, naming former Ekiti State Governor Ayodele (Ayo) Fayose as Chairman of the Board of the Rural Electrification Agency (REA).
The appointments, which take immediate effect, are aimed at strengthening governance and improving service delivery across key sectors including power, fiscal management, agriculture, housing, education, population administration and public sector remuneration.
Rural Electrification Agency (REA)
The Rural Electrification Agency (REA) is responsible for expanding electricity access to rural and underserved communities through grid extension, mini-grids and renewable energy projects.
The new board comprises:
- Chairman: Ayodele (Ayo) Fayose
- Director-General/Chief Executive: Abba Abubakar Aliyu
- Non-Executive Director: Alhaji Ahmadu Abubakar
- Non-Executive Director: Engineer Ilyasu Ibrahim Makinta
The board also includes the agency’s previously appointed Executive Directors.
National Salaries, Incomes and Wages Commission
The National Salaries, Incomes and Wages Commission advises the Federal Government on salaries, wages and remuneration for the public service.
The new leadership is:
- Chairman: Major General Junaid Bindawa (Rtd.)
- Secretary: Olajumoke Okoya-Thomas
- Commissioner (Benue): Dr Ogbole Ene Lilian
- Commissioner (Oyo): Oladele Olatubosun
- Commissioner (Kaduna): Yakubu Umar Barde
- Member (Borno): Dr Mai Adamu Yau
- Member (Enugu): Dr Ginika Florence Tor
- Member (Edo): Engineer Lawrence Okoh
- Member (Kogi): Bello Morenike Iyabode
Fiscal Responsibility Commission (FRC)
The Fiscal Responsibility Commission promotes prudent management of public finances and ensures compliance with Nigeria’s Fiscal Responsibility Act.
The new board comprises:
- Chairman: Dr Abdullahi Maikano Saidu
- Member: Mohammed Asmau
- Member: Mohammed Aliyu Makama
- Member: Dr Suleiman Gidado
- Member: Louis O. Ndukwe
- Member: Amaechi Ugwele
- Member: Olaniyi Idowu Onikola
Other Strategic Appointments
- Secretary, Revenue Mobilisation, Allocation and Fiscal Commission (RMAFC): Tosin Johnson Adeyanju. The Commission is constitutionally mandated to oversee the mobilisation, allocation and equitable distribution of revenue from the Federation Account.
- Director-General, National Population Commission (NPC): Dr Abuh Mohammed. The Commission conducts national population censuses and manages demographic statistics for planning and development.
- Managing Director, Nigerian Bulk Electricity Trading Plc (NBET): Dr Akinola Odeyemi. NBET serves as the bulk purchaser and seller of electricity within Nigeria’s power sector.
- Chairman/Chief Executive Officer, Nigeria Atomic Energy Commission (NAEC): Dr Anthony Inalegwu Godwin. The Commission coordinates Nigeria’s peaceful nuclear energy programme, research and technological development.
- Chief Executive Officer, National Centre for Agricultural Mechanisation (NCAM): Engineer Julius Oloro. Based in Ilorin, Kwara State, NCAM promotes agricultural mechanisation through research, innovation and technology development.
- Executive Secretary, National Commission for Mass Literacy, Adult and Non-Formal Education (NMEC): Shuni Muhammad Dahiru. The Commission coordinates adult literacy and non-formal education programmes nationwide.
- Executive Director (Finance), Federal Housing Authority (FHA): Gisaor Vincent Iorja, who succeeds Mathias Byuan. The FHA develops affordable housing schemes and implements Federal Government housing programmes across Nigeria.
The Presidency said all appointments take immediate effect, reinforcing the administration’s commitment to strengthening institutions that drive economic development, fiscal accountability, infrastructure, education, housing and public service reforms across the country.
