In a significant move to further strengthen governance in Nigeria, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved the appointment of prominent political figures and professionals to head critical boards and agencies across the country. The appointments were announced on Saturday, marking a reshuffle that brings in experience and political gravitas.
Among those appointed are:

Ken Nnamani
Sen. Ken Nnamani (69), Enugu – Chairman, Nigerian Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies (NIPSS). A former Senate President (2005–2007), Ken Nnamani joined the All Progressives Congress (APC) in 2017 after decades in the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). His switch was driven by calls for deeper reforms within the polity and to align with the progressive vision of the APC.
H.E. Philip Shaibu (54), Edo – Director-General, Nigerian Institute of Sports. Former Deputy Governor of Edo State (2016–2023), Shaibu joined the APC in 2023 following his exit from the PDP, citing alignment with national interest and sporting excellence goals.

Omobolanle
Omobolanle Akinyemi Obe (58), Ondo – Director-General, National Senior Citizens Centre, Abuja. Obe, a renowned social worker and community organizer, was a longtime PDP supporter until 2016, when she moved to the APC to champion senior citizens’ welfare.
- Dr. Segun Aina (63), Osun – Director-General, Academic Staff College of Nigeria.

Senator Pius
Sen. Anyim Pius Anyim (63), Ebonyi – Chairman, National Merit Award Committee. A former Senate President (2000–2003) and Secretary to the Government of the Federation (2011–2015), Anyim switched to the APC in 2022, drawn by the party’s focus on national integration.
- Mr. Ayodele Olufemi (52), Kogi – Executive Director (Monitoring and Implementation), Nigeria–São Tomé Joint Development Authority. Olufemi, an engineer and project management expert, became an APC stalwart in 2021, leveraging his technical expertise for economic diplomacy.
- Babaranti Ayandayo Rasheed (56), Osun – Executive Director (Finance and Administration), Nigerian Agricultural Insurance Corporation (NAIC). Rasheed’s roots in the APC date back to 2016, where he’s been involved in agricultural policy advisory.

Hon. (Dr.) Asabe Vilita Bashir (58), Borno – Director-General, National Centre for Women Development. A tireless advocate for women’s rights, Dr. Bashir joined the APC in 2015, attracted by the party’s gender inclusion policies.

Senator Jalo
Sen. Jalo Zarami (62), Yobe – Federal Commissioner, National Population Commission. Zarami, a respected community leader, transitioned to the APC in 2018 to align with its population growth and data policies.
Hon. Dr. Joseph Haruna Kigbu (55), Nasarawa – Federal Commissioner, National Population Commission. Dr. Kigbu, a former member of the House of Representatives, has been an APC member since 2016, actively participating in health and population policy advocacy.

Momoh Jibril (57), Kogi – Board Member, Federal Mortgage Bank of Nigeria (FMBN). Jibril, an estate developer and financier, joined the APC in 2019, motivated by its focus on housing reform and homeownership expansion.
The appointments signal President Tinubu’s continued commitment to national development, inclusivity, and leveraging the expertise of Nigerians across party lines to foster unity and progress.
