Aspirant for the Abia State House of Assembly representing Umunneochi Constituency, Obiechile Simon C, has raised concerns over what he described as a “shift in the political atmosphere” within the African Democratic Congress (ADC), attributing the development to the influence of certain political heavyweights from Northern Nigeria.
In a statement to his supporters, Obiechile emphasized the importance of maintaining Nigeria’s informal power rotation arrangement between the North and South, noting that the South is yet to complete its expected tenure in the current political cycle. According to him, any deviation from this arrangement could undermine democratic fairness and national cohesion.
The aspirant also referenced the recent political move by Peter Obi, who he said aligned with another platform following the ADC leadership’s inability to zone its presidential ticket to the South. He described the decision as a response to perceived injustice and a lack of commitment to equity within the party.
Obiechile, identifying himself as a proud Igbo man, reaffirmed his support for Obi, whom he described as one of the most credible presidential aspirants from the Southern region. He called on his supporters and other Nigerians to rally behind candidates who embody integrity and merit, stressing that national progress depends on prioritizing competence over mediocrity.
He assured constituents that he would continue to provide updates as political developments unfold ahead of the 2027 general elections.
