The State Police Command of Anambra has activated an intensified security framework for the upcoming Yuletide season, following a strategic lecture convened by the Commissioner of Police, CP Ikioye Orutugu, fwc, mnips, PhD, at the Command Headquarters in Awka.

Addressing Area Commanders, Divisional Police Officers, and tactical unit heads, CP Orutugu relayed the Inspector-General of Police’s commendation for the professionalism displayed by officers during the recently concluded Governorship Election. He urged senior officers to sustain the momentum as the state prepares for heightened festive activities.

The Commissioner outlined key components of the Command’s enhanced Anti-Crime Operational Plan, stressing the need for:

• Strengthened intelligence-led operations
• Increased visibility policing across urban and rural areas
• More robust patrol deployments, particularly in identified hotspots
• Strict adherence to proactive policing strategies designed to guarantee a peaceful holiday season

He further charged operational leaders to maintain vigilance, uphold professionalism, and strengthen community engagement to ensure rapid responses to any emerging threats.

In a related development, CP Orutugu presented cheques totalling ₦33,158,545.65 to 54 beneficiaries under the Group Life Assurance Scheme and the IGP Family Welfare Scheme. The gesture, he said, reflects the Police High Command’s commitment to supporting serving officers and the families of personnel who died in active service.

Reassuring the public, the Commissioner stated that the Command is fully prepared to deliver effective security throughout the festive period. He encouraged residents to remain law-abiding and promptly report any suspicious activities.
