Nigeria’s Capital Becoming World-Class City Under Tinubu, Wike – Former Deputy Speaker
A former Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives (1999–2003), Rt. Hon Chibudom Nwuche, has said that the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) is steadily evolving into a world-class city under the leadership of President Bola Tinubu and FCT Minister Nyesom Wike.
Nwuche shared his views in Abuja on Saturday while accompanying the FCT Minister during a routine inspection of ongoing projects in satellite towns. These projects are being prepared for inauguration in celebration of President Tinubu’s second anniversary.

Among the projects inspected were the completed Market and Palace Road in Gwagwalada, the completed 15-kilometre A2 to Pai road, and the ongoing 15.4-kilometre Pai to Gumani road in Kwali Area Council. The Minister also inspected the ongoing dualisation of the Ushafa to Military Checkpoint road and the War College Roads in Bwari Area Council.
“Abuja is transforming into something truly remarkable—a world-class city. The developments are extensive, covering both urban and rural areas,” Nwuche remarked.
He noted that if such developmental efforts had been sustained since 1999, Abuja would have far surpassed its current level of development.
“I have seen many ministers come and go, but this is the one who has truly made a significant impact on the nation’s capital,” Nwuche said.
Expressing his amazement at the pace of development, Nwuche described the transformation he observed in Gwagwalada, Kwali, and Ushafa as “incredible” within just two years.
“I am quite amazed. For instance, in Kwali, we saw vast areas of farmland with access to water. So, I believe Abuja has indeed come back to life,” he added.

Nwuche also lauded the world-class quality of the road projects, praising Wike for his dedication and commitment. He commended President Tinubu for appointing Wike to the role and for providing the necessary support to achieve these impressive feats.
