FG Launches Panel to Manage 753-unit Estate Recovered In Abuja from Emefiele
The Federal Government has inaugurated a 12-member ministerial committee to manage and allocate 753 housing units recovered from former Central Bank Governor Godwin Emefiele in Abuja. The estate, in Lokogoma, was handed over to the Ministry of Housing and Urban Development by the EFCC in line with the Presidency’s asset recovery efforts.
Housing Minister Ahmed Dangiwa emphasized that the project is key to President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda. He urged the team to eliminate delays and maintain professionalism, stating, “The public is watching and expects visible results… People want to see homes completed and allocated fairly. It’s time to show that governance is working for the people.”
The panel, led by Permanent Secretary Shuaib Belgore, includes officials from engineering, planning, procurement, finance, and media. They will assess the estate, finalize infrastructure needs, propose finishing standards, develop a fair allocation plan via the Renewed Hope Housing Portal, and create a public awareness strategy.
Minister of State for Housing, Yusuf Abdullahi Ata, stressed the need for collaboration and suggested involving additional technical experts if required.
Committee chair Shuaib Belgore assured, “This initiative offers a blueprint for turning forfeited properties into projects that directly improve the lives of ordinary Nigerians.” The team will present an initial report within four weeks.
