The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has announced the presentation of Letters of Credence to a new set of Ambassadors and High Commissioners-designate, marking another significant step in Nigeria’s ongoing efforts to strengthen its diplomatic engagement across Africa, Asia, Europe and the Caribbean.
According to a statement issued by the Ministry, the Honourable Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Sola Enikanolaiye, presented Letters of Credence to Ambassadors and High Commissioners-designate to Trinidad and Tobago, Kenya, Equatorial Guinea and Egypt following confirmation of Agrément by their respective host governments.
The Ministry further disclosed that, out of the sixty-nine ambassadors appointed by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, Agreements have so far been received from sixty-one countries, including India and South Africa. Many of the newly appointed envoys have already departed to their respective stations to commence their diplomatic assignments.
The latest diplomatic appointments include Ambassador Jerry Samuel Manwe as High Commissioner-designate to Trinidad and Tobago; Ambassador Ahmed Mohammed Monguno as Ambassador-designate to Egypt; Ambassador Danlami Ibrahim as High Commissioner-designate to Kenya with concurrent accreditation to Seychelles;
Chief Femi F. Kayode as High Commissioner-designate to South Africa; and Ambassador Saidu Dahiru Muhammad as High Commissioner-designate to India, with concurrent accreditation to Bangladesh, Nepal and Sri Lanka.
These appointments underscore Nigeria’s renewed commitment to economic diplomacy, strategic partnerships, trade expansion, investment promotion and constructive international engagement.
India and South Asia: Expanding Economic Diplomacy

Amb. Saidu Dahiru
Among the most strategically significant postings is that of Ambassador Saidu Dahiru Muhammad to India, one of Nigeria’s most important economic and diplomatic partners in Asia.
India remains a major destination for Nigerian crude oil exports and one of the largest investors in Nigeria’s healthcare, pharmaceuticals, telecommunications, manufacturing and energy sectors. With concurrent accreditation to Bangladesh, Nepal and Sri Lanka, Ambassador Muhammad’s mission presents an opportunity to expand Nigeria’s diplomatic footprint across South Asia while deepening cooperation in technology transfer, digital innovation, renewable energy, agriculture, education, healthcare and industrial development.
As India continues its rise as a global economic powerhouse, stronger Nigeria-India relations could unlock new opportunities for trade, investment, skills development, infrastructure financing and private-sector collaboration.
South Africa: Strengthening Africa’s Strategic Partnership
Chief Femi K. Kayode’s appointment to South Africa places him at the centre of one of Africa’s most consequential bilateral relationships.
As two of the continent’s leading economies and influential regional powers, Nigeria and South Africa share extensive interests in trade, finance, manufacturing, mining, aviation, tourism and continental integration. Enhanced cooperation between Pretoria and Abuja will be vital to the successful implementation of the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) and broader African economic integration objectives.
Egypt: Gateway to North Africa and the Middle East
The appointment of Ambassador Ahmed Mohammed Monguno to Egypt offers opportunities to deepen relations with one of Africa’s oldest diplomatic and economic centres.
Nigeria and Egypt cooperate extensively within the African Union and other multilateral institutions. Additional opportunities exist in aviation, tourism, education, infrastructure development, security cooperation, cultural exchange and intra-African trade. Egypt’s strategic geographic position also provides Nigerian businesses with greater access to North African and Middle Eastern markets.
Kenya and Seychelles: East African Opportunities
As High Commissioner-designate to Kenya, with concurrent accreditation to Seychelles, Ambassador Danlami Ibrahim assumes responsibility for advancing Nigeria’s interests in one of Africa’s most dynamic economic regions.
Kenya serves as East Africa’s principal commercial, financial and innovation hub. Greater collaboration can support growth in agriculture, financial technology, aviation, digital innovation, tourism and regional commerce, while strengthening cooperation between West and East Africa.
Trinidad and Tobago: Deepening Diaspora and Cultural Ties
Ambassador Jerry Samuel Manwe’s posting to Trinidad and Tobago reinforces a relationship built upon centuries of historical, cultural and people-to-people connections.
The shared African heritage linking both nations provides a strong foundation for expanded cooperation in education, tourism, culture, energy, business development and diaspora engagement. The appointment presents an opportunity to further strengthen Nigeria’s relationship with the Caribbean region while promoting cultural diplomacy and economic cooperation.
The Holy See: Diplomacy Beyond Politics

Ambassador Paul Adikwu
Another important diplomatic assignment is Nigeria’s mission to the Holy See, where Ambassador Paul Adikwu has already commenced engagements following his departure for Vatican City.
The Holy See occupies a unique position in global affairs, exercising considerable influence in peacebuilding, humanitarian initiatives, education, healthcare, interfaith dialogue and conflict resolution. Nigeria’s engagement with the Vatican remains particularly significant given the country’s religious diversity and its continuing efforts to promote peaceful coexistence and national unity.
Early reports indicate that Ambassador Adikwu has held engagements with Cardinal Francis Arinze, one of Nigeria’s most distinguished church leaders and among the most senior African clerics ever to serve within the Vatican hierarchy. He has also met senior diplomats at the Nigerian Embassy to the Holy See as part of efforts to advance Nigeria’s diplomatic and humanitarian objectives.
United Kingdom: Renewing Historic and Strategic Relations
Nigeria’s diplomatic outreach is also being strengthened in the United Kingdom, where Ambassador Aminu M. Dalhatu, Nigeria’s representative to the Court of St James’s, has reportedly resumed duties and commenced engagements with Nigerian community leaders, diplomatic stakeholders and international partners.

Amb. Aminu Muhammed Dalhatu
The United Kingdom remains one of Nigeria’s most important strategic partners, particularly in trade, investment, education, security cooperation, financial services and diaspora relations.
Ambassador Dalhatu’s early engagements reflect a commitment to strengthening bilateral ties and enhancing collaboration between the two countries. His presentation of credentials to His Majesty King Charles III will mark a significant milestone in the advancement of Nigeria-United Kingdom relations.
Advancing Nigeria’s Global Influence
Collectively, these diplomatic deployments reflect the Tinubu administration’s determination to position foreign policy as a vehicle for economic growth, international cooperation and national development.
Beyond traditional diplomacy, Nigeria’s ambassadors and high commissioners are increasingly expected to serve as economic envoys, investment facilitators, cultural ambassadors and strategic representatives of Africa’s most populous nation.
As the newly appointed diplomats assume their responsibilities across the globe, expectations remain high that their efforts will contribute to attracting investment, expanding trade, strengthening international partnerships and enhancing Nigeria’s influence in an increasingly interconnected world.
