As Nigeria marks its 65th Independence Anniversary, the spotlight this weekend turns to Manchester, United Kingdom, where the Nigerian community is gearing up for a major celebration on Saturday, October 11, 2025. The event, themed around unity, culture, and pride in national identity, will be held at the Nigerian House, Manchester, from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m.
Leading the lineup of distinguished guests is Governor Umar Bago of Niger State, Nigeria’s Minister of Youth and Sports Development, Ayodele Olawande, alongside Iyaloja-General and daughter of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Chief (Mrs.) Folashade Tinubu-Ojo, and Alhaji Abiola Kumoye, the Chairman of the Nigerian Community in Greater Manchester, who is also the chief host of the event.

Governor Umar Bago (Niger State)
Governor Bago, a reform-minded leader and proponent of agricultural transformation, has become one of Nigeria’s most visible state executives. Hon. Ayodele Olawande (Minister of Youth and Sports Development)
