The National Examinations Council (NECO) has cautioned members of the public against fraudulent online recruitment portals claiming to recruit examination supervisors for the forthcoming 2026 Senior School Certificate Examination (SSCE) Internal.
In a statement issued on Tuesday by the Acting Director of Information and Public Relations, Azeez Sani, the Council disclosed that the fake websites were demanding payments from applicants and requesting them to upload details of their academic credentials.
NECO stressed that it does not charge any fee for the recruitment of examination supervisors and urged prospective applicants to disregard any platform requesting payment for the exercise.
The Council explained that, in line with recommendations of the Ministerial Committee on the Improvement of Quality of Examination in Nigeria, it has migrated from the traditional analogue method of recruiting supervisors and assistant supervisors to a fully electronic system.
According to NECO, all qualified pensionable teachers on Grade Level 12 and above who are at least 30 years old and interested in serving as supervisors for the 2026 SSCE Internal should apply through the Council’s official recruitment portal.
The examination body emphasized that the recruitment process is fully automated and does not require the involvement of any third party.
NECO noted that the new digital recruitment system is designed to eliminate fraud, strengthen examination supervision, curb examination malpractice, and enhance transparency, fairness, and credibility in the selection of supervisors.
The Council revealed that no fewer than 22,000 supervisors will be recruited nationwide to facilitate the smooth conduct of the 2026 SSCE Internal Examination, which is scheduled to commence on June 15, 2026.
NECO urged members of the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious recruitment platform or individual demanding payment in exchange for supervisory appointments.
