Federal Government has reiterated its commitment in the promotion of Technology and Innovation Development through Business support process that accelerates the successful development of start-up and fledgling companies by providing Entrepreneurs with an array of targeted Resources and Services to compel enterprises growth till they become free standing businesses.
Director General/ Chief Executive Officer, National Board for Technology Incubation, NBTI, Dr. Mrs Patricia Uchenna Chukwu made this known when she received the Ambassador of Arab Republic of Egypt to Nigeria, H.E Muhammed Fouad who paid a courtesy visit to the Board Headquarters in Abuja.
Dr. Chukwu in her remarks said the visit is to discuss Technology Incubation Programme (TIP) and collaboration that would be of immense Economic benefit to both countries.
She noted that the Technology Incubation Programme (TIP) has emerged as a globally recognized and credible strategy for nurturing the growth of the productive sector.

According to her, “TIP is certainly the best process to promote Technology and Innovation Development.
“When this is done, wealth creation with the attendant enhancement and production of innumerable products and services in a country would rise geometrically leading to improved GDP, unemployment reduction and the general wellness of the citizenry.
“The programme is tailored to support the growth of uncountable varied enterprises leading to sound Technology advancement and Economic Growth.
“TIP practice requires collaboration with various agencies, institutions, individuals, groups and communities for effective execution and success of its job of building enterprises”.
The Director General while noting that the first Technology Incubation Centre (TIC) in Nigeria was established in Agege, Lagos in 1993, followed by Kano and Aba in 1994 and 1996 respectively said TICs are work spaces where start-ups and fledging enterprises are quartered and upgraded in various business and technology skills till they become free standing enterprises.

“National Board for Technology Incubation (NBTI) was established in 2005 to coordinate the Technology Incubation Programme (TIP) in Nigeria while the actual Incubation process takes place at the Technology Incubation Centres (TICs). Nigeria has established 36 TICs in each of the 36 States of the Federation.
“We acknowledge the rich Technological advancement of the ancient Nation of Egypt and her huge potential to impact positively on our Countries.
“We are very delighted to seek collaboration with the Embassy of Egypt to explore avenues through which our mutual interest of Technology Advancement and Economic Growth of our Countries can be promoted. We envision collaboration in the following areas:
“Knowledge Exchange and Transfer: Facilitating the exchange of knowledge and best practices between our nations to bolster the effectiveness of our respective Technology Incubation Programs.
“This exchange could take the form of workshops, seminars, and training sessions where experts from both countries share insights and experiences. Additionally, we can explore opportunities for joint research projects and technology transfer initiatives to leverage each other’s strengths.
“Entrepreneurship Development: Joint initiatives aimed at developing and nurturing entrepreneurial skills, fostering a culture of Innovation and sustainability.

“This could involve Mentorship Programs, Start-up Competitions, and Incubation initiatives tailored to the needs of entrepreneurs in Nigeria and the ancient City of Egypt. Collaboration in providing access to funding, Infrastructure, and networks can significantly enhance the growth prospects of start-ups in both Countries.
“Policy Frameworks: Sharing insights and experiences in formulating and implementing policies that support the growth of Technology Incubation Programs.
“This could involve exchanging information on regulatory frameworks, funding mechanisms, and incentive schemes conducive to entrepreneurship and innovation.
Earlier, the Ambassador of Arab Republic of Egypt, H.E Muhammed Fouad while commending the Director General for identifying the Country to work with, assured of his country’s commitment in partnering with Nigerian Government through National Board For Tech Incubation (NBTI), in the area of Technology transfer programmes.

The Ambassador, while noting that Science and Technology is the main driver of the Economic Growth and Development of any Nation, said the Country is looking forward to issues related to Technology Incubation that will guarantee employment generation through collaborations which will transmit to tangible programs for the mutual benefits of Egypt and Nigeria.
