Literary Icon and Founder,SixthSense Initiative, Dr Abiodun Lasile, has been penned down among notable Nigerians to be honoured by the Board of Trustees of Crescent University, Abeokuta, Ogun State.
Lasile is to bag the Bola Ajibola Community Service Award on Friday 22nd March 2024 at an event in commemoration of the 18th Founder’s Day of the University.
A letter of nomination for the award was communicated to the awardee by the University’s Registrar and Secretary to the Council, Barrister Z.A. Ajibola.
According to a programme of events by the institution, the Founder’s Day Celebration is expected to start on Thursday 21st March, 2024 with a novelty match to be held at the Wahab Folayiwo Stadium located in the University
On Friday, March 22nd, a public lecture titled: “Competence and Self-Determination For Growing Leaders”
is to be delivered by the Lead Consultant/CEO, Knowledge and Resource Centre, Dr(Mrs) Tamramat Mosun Bello-Olusoga.
Venue is the Bola Ajibola Auditorium on campus where the award event will also hold.
Dr Abiodun Lasile has grown, over the years, from being a noteworthy
broadcaster at the Nigerian Television Authority to attain the enviable image of
a national opinion moulder.
After retiring at NTA, he has taken to writing and making progressive comments
on mass and electronic media. Such literary efforts have been rewarded with
many publications at bookshelves, bookshops, libraries and secondary schools
across the country.
He has industriously expanded the passion for broadcasting and literary
pursuits to embrace creative designs and branding in his line of commercial
publishing.
Lasile holds the prestigious Orunto kingmaker title of ancient Owu Kingdom, third in the hierarchy of Iwarefa Owu.
He has a profound interest in the well-being of one and all,
irrespective of tribe, gender, creed or culture, a character trait that has driven
him into featuring regularly on the discussion of issue-based challenges on
radio, television and social media platforms.
He is always eager to get involved
in proffering solutions, whether the issue concerns local communities or has to
do with any of the various problems of the country and is ever committed to supporting any moves or programmes that will
accelerate the pace of development in any group or community.
Abiodun Lasile is especially at home with children and unto whom he has dedicated his Reading Culture programmes and advocacies.
He is the Founder and Coordinator of the following; Ladimeji Lasile Enterprises,
Sixth Sense Series Publications and The SixthSense Initiative, Creative creator
of Summer Children Reading Camp, Children Reading Competition Programme,
Community Mobile Library, Value for Life Initiative and several others.
The programmes, designed to encourage the habit of reading amongst
youngsters, have been gaining wide acceptance in Ogun State and other parts
of the country.
He has many children’s books to his credit and is still counting. Some of these
books have been approved as Literature in English textbooks in Ogun, Abia,
Akwa Ibom and Anambra States of Nigeria.
Apart from the recognition accorded such books by the respective state
governors, they equally enjoy the accolades of the Nigerian Educational
Research Development Council (NERDC).
Abiodun Lasile is the publisher of The SixthSense Reading Culture Magazine, a
frontline quarterly publication for children, families, schools, book enthusiasts
and international agencies.
